International Students

Wayo welcomes international students for short-term exchange or as fulltime matriculated students.
Because Wayo is a women's university, we are not able to accept male student in undergraduate courses, but men may participate in graduate school programs.

Office of International Programs

The Office of International Programs (OIP) manages International programs at Wayo. The OIP also negotiates with partner universities, supports faculty and students to study abroad, and organizes new international programs. Additionally, the OIP plans and organizes international symposia and workshops at Wayo, coordinates student exchanges, and promotes in-bound and out-bound programs.

Short-term Exchange Programs

Exchange students who wish to study at Wayo Women's University must be attending a university that has an active student exchange agreement with Wayo. The Application Form for the Student Exchange Program and all other application documents are forwarded to the exchange student's home university. The admission for exchange students is held twice a year.

Fulltime Programs (International Admission for Matriculated Students)

The entrance examination for international female undergraduate students is held twice a year. Because most Wayo classes are taught in Japanese, students must have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 2 or above, or Japanese language section of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) with a score of 200 points or higher.

In most departments, selection is based on an essay, a personal interview, and the student's academic record presented with their application.

Student Exchange Scholarships

Student Exchange Support Program (Scholarship for Short-term Study in Japan)

  1 student

• Monthly stipend: JP ¥ 80,000 per month (up to 12 months)

NOTE: If an exchange student already has heen approved to receive JP￥80,000 or more per month from other scholarships，she cannot be a candidate for either of these scholarships.

Scholarship Outline

Wayo submits a yearly student exchange plan to the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). According to the yearly plan, JASSO will allocate the quota of scholarships to each Japanese university. Within this quota，Wayo will then recommend exchange students to JASSO. Applicants will be notified of the screening results through Wayo. Wayo will screen the candidates for these scholarships based on their applications，statements of purpose，and official university transcripts that exchange students submit to Wayo via their home university，(Exchange students cannot directly apply for these scholarships without going through their home university). Additionally, Wayo may ask a student's home university additional details about their recommendations. Wayo will make the final selection from among all qualified exchange student applicants and notify the home universities of their decision.
