9 Wayo Women's University C ampus Facilities North Building Supporting activities and student life, the North Building has club rooms, the student affairs office, the office of international pro- grams, the health center, the counseling office, the concierge, a book store, and a recreation room. The upper level of the North Building has piano lesson rooms and a practical training room for early childhood education. About the Campus Facilities East Building The East Building (EB) houses the majority of classrooms at Wayo, most of which are fully equipped with audio / visual equipment plus internet connections for computers. The EB is extremely convenient for students because of the computerized student information pla- za. The EB also has two computer work areas for students, depart- mental offices, faculty offices, conference rooms, the Wayo Muse- um, and a relaxing dining lounge with 180 degree scenic views of Mt. Fuji, the Edo River, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, and the sur- rounding metropolitan area. Wayo Women’s University Museum The museum is on the 17th floor of the East Building. It displays permanent historical exhibitions as well as special exhibitions. Mu- seum staff prepare exhibits and public presentations of not only Wayo-related articles, but they also cooperate with other groups to display antique art, calligraphy, handicrafts, traditional and western fashions, accessories, and archeological and folk history artifacts. Wayo Women’s University Museum aims to support the student cu- rator training course, to be a bridge between the academic world and the general public, and to be a leader and innovator in muse- um displays. The museum is open to citizen groups as well as to student groups. South Building The South Building (SB) is home to the faculty of Human Ecology. The modern 9-story building has fully-equipped laboratories where specialized scientific research and training take place. The SB con- tains two computer centers, a spacious conference room for semi- nars and symposia, and a large cafeteria. Beautiful cherry blos- soms can be seen from the faculty offices in the SB in the spring. West Building (Academic Resource Center) Wayo’s main library, called the Academic Resource Center is locat- ed on the 4th, 5th and 6th floors of the West Building (WB). It con- tains printed materials and digital resources for research and study in countless fields as well as computerized access to materials contained in libraries throughout Japan. The Academic Resource Center, excluding the rare books section, has a total collection of 240,000 volumes and 1,677 periodicals. It is open to Ichikawa citizens to use free of charge. There are also com- puter labs for students with self-learning systems and a comfortable lounge for reading, listening to music, and watching DVDs, as well as areas for small group study. On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors, there are classrooms and lecture halls in the WB, including an audio visual hall that can seat 300 people. Satomi Building The Satomi Building was completed in the spring of 2018. This building is mainly designed for students and faculty of the nursing department, and includes fully equipped practice rooms, lecture rooms, student lounges, and research rooms. In the lounges, there are computers available that students can use freely. Other Facilities A 2,000-seat auditorium, a gymnasium with an indoor pool, sports courts and training rooms, and tennis courts.
